Grade 5 students invent Blizzard flavour in support of the David Busby Street Centrehttp://wes.scdsb.on.ca/about-us/news/school-news/22Grade 5 students invent Blizzard flavour in support of the David Busby Street Centre<p>​Grade 5 students from West Bayfield Elementary School have partnered with the local Dairy Queen to invent and market a unique Blizzard flavour in support of the David Busby Street Centre. <br><br>Through the Entrepreneurial Adventure program with The Learning Partnership, the students worked together to invent a Blizzard flavour they named the White Strawberry Glacier. This Blizzard is made with strawberries, white chocolate, and topped with whipped cream. <br><br><strong>The White Strawberry Glacier is available for $5 at the following Dairy Queen locations between April 4 and May 24:</strong><br>• 103 Bradford Street, Barrie<br>• Bayfield Mall, 320 Bayfield Street, Barrie<br><br>100 per cent of the proceeds will be donated to the David Busby Street Centre. </p>

CUPE and ETFO reach tentative agreements; suspend work-to-rule actionshttp://wes.scdsb.on.ca/about-us/news/board-news/41CUPE and ETFO reach tentative agreements; suspend work-to-rule actions<h2>ETFO</h2><p>The Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario (ETFO) began provincial job action in the form of a work-to-rule campaign in May 2015.   <br></p><p><strong>On November 2, ETFO reached a tentative agreement at the central bargaining table with the Government of Ontario and the Ontario Public School Boards’ Association (OPSBA). </strong> The tentative deal must be endorsed by ETFO's local leaders before it is presented to all ETFO members for ratification. ETFO has agreed to suspend central job action while ratification takes place. Terms of the tentative agreement have not yet been made public.</p><h2>CUPE</h2><p>The collective bargaining agreement between the Simcoe County District School Board (SCDSB) and the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) expired on August 31, 2014. In the SCDSB, CUPE represents our custodial and maintenance staff. Since September 10, 2015, CUPE members have been engaged in provincial job action in the form of a work-to-rule campaign.   <br></p><p><strong>On November 2, CUPE reached a tentative agreement at the central bargaining table with the Government of Ontario and the Ontario Public School Boards’ Association (OPSBA). </strong> The tentative deal must be endorsed by CUPE's local leaders before it is presented to all CUPE members for ratification. Pay for field trips, lunch days, etc. with SchoolCash Onlinehttp://wes.scdsb.on.ca/about-us/news/board-news/31Pay for field trips, lunch days, etc. with SchoolCash Online<p>​The SchoolCash Online program is now available at all schools, offering parents the option to pay online for field trips, lunch days and other items. The program is intended to reduce paper, eliminate the need for students to travel with money, and for money to be counted and stored at schools.  Payment by credit card has now also been added.<br><br>Parents who sign up will receive a notification when a new item becomes available for purchase. Items are personalized to each student.  Parents will use a secure online account to process payments, and can either make a one-time payment for each item as it occurs, or load money to carry a balance in the online account to make payments in the future.<br><br>To create an online account, go to <a href="https://simcoecounty.schoolcashonline.com/" target="_blank">https://simcoecounty.schoolcashonline.com</a>.
